Our opticians are vision care professionals who guide patients through the entire frame and lens selection process. Opticians receive a patient’s prescription from our optometrists and ophthalmologists, and then recommend, measure, and adjust their lenses to get them the best fitting eyewear possible. Our opticians are the primary driver of the Spectacular Patient Experience. Training for this position relies heavily on “on the job” training, however, National Board Exam Prep courses and other continuing education courses can supplement that training. This position has a base plus incentives.

Our store managers are responsible for a wide range of administrative and consumer-facing tasks to help keep our patients satisfied. A store manager is proficient in all the duties of an optician, but is primarily focused on setting goals, tracking key performance indicators, and training. Store managers motivate others to ensure a spectacular patient experience and are responsible for recruiting and developing talent. They are also responsible for all store operations, including inventory and financial performance. This position has a base salary and performance incentives.

Our ophthalmic technicians are skilled professionals who assist our ophthalmologists in caring for our patients’ eye health and vision. As an ophthalmic tech at Standard Optical, you’ll help with patient intake and issue recording, pretesting and diagnostic procedures, and supporting our ophthalmologists during surgery, among other tasks. They work closely with our doctors, use advanced medical equipment, and make recommendations to our opticians and patients for vision needs based on exam findings. If you’re a people person with a passion for patient care, you’d likely thrive in this position!

This full-time associate also receives on-the-job training in optical and customer service. Associates take inbound calls scheduling patients for eye exams and pre authorizing their vision insurance. This position is both extremely fun and extremely important since this person is often a patient’s first experience with our company.

At Standard Optical, a refractive surgery technician attends surgery with our ophthalmologist for surgeries like LASIK and PRK. Candidates applying for this position should have experience and a COT or COA certificate, however, we can provide study materials and test preparation. A surgery tech is responsible for administering pre-operative and diagnostic tests, working closely with the surgeon to calibrate, prepare, and facilitate surgical patient flow.

These crucial positions support our personnel in the stores and perform tasks including data entry, credit card reconciliation, third party billing services, and assisting with payroll.
